Minoxidil 5% for women
Topical minoxidil has genuine trial evidence for female pattern hair loss, which becomes more common as oestrogen falls.
Who it may suit. Thinning at the temples or a widening parting, once other causes such as thyroid and iron have been checked.
The catch. It takes four to six months to judge, and stopping reverses the gain. Get the cause checked first rather than treating blind.
Ceramide-based body moisturiser
Skin barrier function measurably declines after menopause. Ceramides are one of the few ingredients with evidence for restoring it, as opposed to marketing.
The catch. It addresses dryness and itch. It is not an anti-ageing claim and we are not making one.
